Carbon Steel (CS) Seamless Pipes are manufactured by Maharashtra Seamless Limited (MSL), the flagship seamless tube manufacturing division of the renowned D.P. Jindal Group. Operating as the largest producer of seamless piping systems in India, MSL boasts a massive annual production capacity of 550,000 metric tonnes and structural sizing capabilities reaching up to 20 inches in diameter. Unlike welded configurations, a seamless pipe is extruded completely without a seam or a longitudinal weld joint. In standard welded options, the seam inevitably represents a mechanical weak point that limits the ultimate pressure rating of the pipeline to the overall strength of the weld joint itself. By contrast, a seamless line possesses a completely uniform metallic structure and continuous wall strength across the entire pipe body. This allows it to easily withstand vastly higher pressures, extreme thermal cycles, heavy mechanical impacts, and corrosive internal fluids.

Pipe Manufacturing Process

The raw material used in the manufacture of Spiral SAW pipes is H.R. Coil. It is continuously formed to the specific diameter of the pipe, spirally welded at high speed, and cut to the required length.

Quality Assurance & Finishing

Post-formation, the pipe undergoes a rigorous multi-stage inspection process:

• Visual Inspection: Thorough checking for weld defects like undercuts or porosity, rectified according to the approved QAP (Quality Assurance Plan).
• Beveling: Pipes are sent to the Chamfering & Facing machine to ensure high-quality joints for site installation.
• Hydrostatic Testing: Each pipe is pressure-tested to guarantee zero leakage in the weld joint or parent material.
• Final Testing: Includes physical, visual, destructive, and non-destructive testing before final dispatch.
